Connecting Water Row on the south side to Pointhouse Quay on the north, the new bridge will be open to the public from tomorrow.
A new £29.5m bridge between Govan and Partick has been officially opened before public access starts tomorrow .
Council leader Susan Aitken was joined by Tom Arthur, Scottish Government minister for employment and investment, and Kirsty McNeil, UK Government minister for Scotland, at the official opening, where children from Notre Dame Primary and Riverside Primary walked and cycled across the bridge. “Glasgow’s got quite an organic approach to these things,” she said. “Having said that, it’s Glasgow’s 850th anniversary next year so we are going to have a year long party.
The council also believes the bridge is key to public and private sector investments in the area, including the development of the University of Glasgow’s Clyde waterfront innovation campus next to the QUEH and new housing at Water Row, which has been delivered by Govan Housing Association.
