The historic Victorian Collectors Hall in Glasgow is undergoing a £100 million transformation, set to become a premier event space within the AC Hotel by Marriott Glasgow. Developers envision the restored hall as a versatile venue for weddings, corporate events, exhibitions, and more, while preserving its rich history and architectural details.
The first glimpses of the historic Victorian Collectors Hall after its £100 million makeover have been unveiled. The AC Hotel by Marriott Glasgow , situated on George Street, will undergo a multi-million pound restoration of the A-listed space. Developers say this transformation will add a 'new dimension' to the four-star hotel, which is already gaining recognition as one of Glasgow and Scotland 's best.
The Collectors Hall will be 'painstakingly restored' to preserve as many original features as possible. Developers envision it as a versatile space accommodating 120 seated guests and 200 standing for a range of events, including weddings, charity galas, exhibitions, product launches, and private dining experiences. Plans also include a dedicated private entrance on George Street, a charming canopied courtyard featuring a bar, and a secluded private dining area. The venue is projected to host over 200 events annually, generating 20 to 30 new jobs.Originally, the Collectors Hall served as a refuge for Glaswegians in the early 1900s who sought financial assistance from the church. From weddings in a grand historic setting to exclusive corporate events, it could easily become one of Scotland’s most sought-after venues.”A brand-new kitchen is being developed under the guidance of Executive Chef John-Paul Giraud, ensuring a truly exceptional dining experience for guests. By collaborating closely with organizations like Glasgow Life, which promotes the city internationally, the venue aims to attract high-profile international events and solidify Glasgow’s reputation as a leading destination for both business and leisure tourism. Munro added: “We see this as an opportunity for AC Hotel Glasgow and the city as a whole. There’s nothing else like this – a historic event space with luxury accommodation attached. Developers of Love Loan, the Chris Stewart Group, have already commenced work on the space.
