When you’re watching a hit-man movie, you might expect a solipsistic, serious anti-hero, a penetrating examination of amorality and maybe a contract-kill that goes wrong. American indie iconhas all of these things – but in fact it’s not a film about a hit man at all. It’s a film about a guy pretending to be one.– are filled with a loquacious, good-natured energy. This one is set in Texas, where, somewhat unbelievably, a version of these events occurred in real life.
Gary turns out to be shockingly adept at the job. He switches easily from mild-mannered nerd to bewigged sleazebag or slick, mafia-style professional. A redneck bozo signs him up to murder an estranged ex, and suddenly finds himself slapped in cuffs.But the line between fantasy and reality soon begins to blur. As one alter-ego, Ron, Gary finds himself particularly confident.
