Another prisoner was previously charged
An inmate at a prison in Nottingham has died following an incident two weeks earlier. The prisoner at HMP Nottingham died in hospital on July 12, the Ministry of Justice confirmed.
His death, which Nottinghamshire Live understands was due to a head injury, came after an altercation with another inmate on June 28. A 37-year-old man has been charged over the incident. Andrew Thorpe was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and is next due to appear in court on August 9. Nottinghamshire Police said the charge remains the same at present and any changes typically take place at court hearings.A short hearing at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on July 1 heard Thorpe, of Alfred Street North, St Ann's, was told the case would be sent to the crown court as it is too serious a charge to be heard at the lower court.
