The Treasury has been sending out letters to women and other older people for nearly a year
HM Revenue and Customs is preparing to send out letters explaining that if there are gaps in their National Insurance record due to missing periods of Home Responsibilities Protection , they could be entitled to a back payment. That's because the oversight has had an impact on the amount of Basic or New State Pension they are entitled to.
Those who have been impacted by this error can expect to receive any back payments by the end of next year. The DWP has previously stated that those closest to the State Pension age, typically in their 60s and 70s, will be the first to receive the letters.Anyone who suspects they may have been affected can check their eligibility online using the self-identification tool available on GOV. UK, reports Birmingham Live.
