The HMS Prince of Wales, the Royal Navy's flagship, will be awarded the Freedom of Liverpool during a special service at Liverpool Parish Church. The honorary title will be bestowed upon the aircraft carrier during an invitation-only ceremony. The event will be followed by a march through the city center involving members of the ship’s company.

HMS Prince of Wales will be awarded the Freedom of Liverpool at a special service during her stay in Merseyside. The aircraft carrier, which is the Royal Navy 's flagship, is currently docked at Liverpool's Cruise Terminal to celebrate her links with her affiliated city. She will be awarded the freedom of the city at a service – which is invitation-only and not open to the general public - at Liverpool Parish Church on Chapel Street at 12.30pm on Friday, December 6.

Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Richard Kemp , said: “Liverpool has always had a significant connection with the Royal Navy, particularly during times of conflict, including the pivotal Second World War Battle of the Atlantic. Those strong links remain today, and the city acknowledges the role the ship and her company play in both the defence of the nation and within the local community.
