The Royal Navy aircraft carrier is coming to Liverpool for a week-long stay
HMS Prince of Wales arrives in Liverpool today and hundreds of thousands of visitors are expected to flock to Pier Head to see the 65,000 tonne warship during its visit to Liverpool Cruise Terminal . She last sailed down the River Mersey in March 2020, when huge crowds gathered on Liverpool's waterfront to catch a glimpse of the massive aircraft carrier. The 65,000 tonne vessel has a company of 700 sailors - increased to around 1,600 with aircraft on board.
Civic dignitaries and leading figures from industry, education and Liverpool’s cultural scene will give a demonstration of the ship's operations, followed by a ceremonial sunset ceremony supported by the Corps of Drums of His Majesty’s Royal Marines. Saturday, December 7 : Ship opens to visitors. A staggering 10,000 people will be permitted to explore the ship this weekend, after the sell-out ticket release last month.
