Rita has opened up about her hysterectomy Hollyoaks and EastEnders legend Rita Simons has revealed the reason she chose to undergo a hysterectomy two years ago at the age of 45. The actress, who is currently Marie Fielding in the Channel 4 soap and previously starred as party animal Roxy Mitchell in the BBC soap, has explained that periods worsening her OCD and Anxiety were the reason behind her decision to have the life-changing procedure.
Shew has joined a whole host of other soap stars – including Coronation Street’s Lucy Fallon and Brooke Vincent – for the upcoming programme, which charts the day to day world of actresses in continuing drama. ‘There are nine of us girls, ladies, women who work on soaps up north – so Corrie, Hollyoaks and Emmerdale,’ Rita exclusively explained to Metro.co.uk. ‘It’s basically about the eight of us and how we navigate being a mum, being a mum of youngsters or – like me – two 18 year olds.
