The Hollywood film director enjoyed a sneak preview of Journey to Hell

Tim Burton is famed for his spooky, supernatural, moody and mystical movies an TV shows. And it appears he may have visited his beloved Blackpool for inspiration for his next project.

The unconventional and famously quirky film-maker explored the park’s Twisted Tunnels, River caves and the historic Ghost Train. And fans will be hoping he was looking for creative ideas for Beetlejuice 2, which is due for release in September 2024.The Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and Nightmare Before Christmas director has previously featured both the seaside town and Blackpool Pleasure Beach in a number of projects. He most recently directed Netflix hit Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega.

Amanda Thompson OBE, CEO of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, said: “We know Tim is a huge fan of Blackpool Pleasure Beach having visited us quite a few times already, and it’s always so wonderful to welcome him back. "He actually suggested that we use the River Caves as part of Journey to Hell – and that’s exactly what we’ve done."
