Celebrities have penned an open letter to United States President Joe Biden, calling for him to utilise his diplomacy to facilitate a ceasefire in the war-torn Middle East.
With an escalating exchange of attacks between Hamas and Israel, the death toll is feared to see a huge spike as thousands of Palestinians remain injured, displaced or cut off from life-saving supplies in Gaza.
More than 70 singers, artists, actors, writers and comedians signed the letter, including Cate Blanchett, Channing Tatum, Dua Lipa, Hasan Minhaj, Kehlani, Mark Ruffalo, Macklemore and Oscar Isaac. “We stand for freedom, justice, dignity and peace for all people – and a deep desire to stop more bloodshed.
More than 3,700 Palestinians have been killed so far and another 13,400 injured. A further 1,000 are believed to be under the rubble with about one million remaining displaced.
