Enormous boost for campaign to save Zoe's Place as TJ Morris steps up
The owners of Liverpool-based Home Bargains have pledged an enormous £2.5 million to the campaign to save baby hospice Zoe's Place, meaning the vital centre is now well on course to remain in the city. Earlier this month, stunned staff members at the West Derby hospice, which has provided palliative and end-of-life care for babies and young children since 1995, were devastated to be told that the centre would be closing by the end of the year.
On Saturday, a team of Liverpool ECHO staff walked from our city centre office to the Yew Tree Lane hospice and back, raising more than £4,000 in the process. Mr Byrne has already laid out plans for how the new Zoe's Place in Liverpool will be run when it moves into a new home. The new charity will be operated by and funded by an organisation based in Liverpool and run by people from Liverpool.
