Police officers from both Nottinghamshire Police and Greater London's police force arrested a 57-year-old man during the operation on Greenfield Grove in Carlton at around 4am on Saturday, June 1

Armed police have raided a home in Nottinghamshire and set up a cordon as part of a Metropolitan Police investigation. Police officers from both Nottinghamshire Police and Greater London's police force, which also carries out some specialised roles throughout the rest of the country, arrested a 57-year-old man during the operation on Greenfield Grove in Carlton at around 4am on Saturday, June 1.

The joint operation required a large police presence and officers have been stationed at the scene for hours, but the Nottinghamshire force has said there is no threat to the public. A statement published by Nottinghamshire Police did not specify what the detained man had been arrested on suspicion of, but signalled that Metropolitan Police was leading the investigation.

Chief Inspector Neil Humphris, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "People living in this area may have been aware of a large police presence.“I would like to reassure them there is no ongoing or wider threat to the public following this arrest. There is likely to be a cordon in place while we continue to assist the Metropolitan Police in their investigations, so I would like to thank residents for their understanding and cooperation.
