This year’s Home Run Derby boasts plenty of worthy competitors. Two-time champion Pete Alonso will have to contend with Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson , Atlanta Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna , Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez and more.The rule changes and alterations include hitters getting three minutes and up to 40 pitches across the first two rounds. In the final, they’ll get two minutes and up to 27 pitches.
Neither Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. nor Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena, last year’s champion and runner-up, are competing in this year’s field.
