Kate Watson-Smyth, Red columnist, founder of madaboutthehouse.com and author of several interiors books, lives in this four bedroom terraced Victorian house in North London with her husband, Adam Leigh, a brand consultant, and – for some of the time – their sons, Isaac and Noah, along with Enid the cat. The couple recently downsized from a five bedroom, three bathroom townhouse so they could buy a house in Italy.
The wooden Baumann chairs were an eBay find and they soften the metal of the table. 'Every room needs a bit of vintage wood in,' adds Kate. The glass lamps were a great find from HM Home and they have hung two at different heights to give them more presence. The pictures are magazine covers from a series called 100 Italian Cities. 'We have found them in local markets and on Italian eBay,' says Kate. 'The rule is that we can only have places we have both been too.
