A homemade kite event drew folks of all ages from across Mobile to Hope Community Center on Saturday.
Anderson Flen, president of the Mobile County Training School Alumni Association, said the event is all about making a masterpiece out of items you already have lying around your house, and it’s more than just an arts and crafts project.
“Trying to expose young people like my friend here to make sure they know that they have a tradition of being able to make things with their hands and have fun. And intergenerational, as well — you have the older persons as well as young people being a part of this process,” Flen said. The kites made during this project can sometimes be spotted at the city of Mobile’s annual Kites Over Mobile event.
This year’s Kites Over Mobile will take place April 14-15 at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park on Battleship Parkway.Homemade kite event attracts people of all ages
