The city of Overland Park will offer some seniors and low-income families a tax rebate of up to 75 percent of their overall property taxes.
Homeowners in Overland Park, Kansas, may get a financial boost next year after the city approved a $200,000 rebate program in its 2025 budget.The city council voted on the measure six to five and will now figure out its rules around eligibility before offering the payments next year.Property owners are facing high housing costs across the country, and Americans are feeling the hit as inflation remains above 3 percent.
There will also be an income limit, with the maximum rebate amount set at 75 percent of city property taxes.'The rebate for Overland Park is specifically aimed at helping low-income homeowners who receiving a rebate could greatly benefit them in terms of housing costs and staying where they are,' Alex Beene, a financial literacy instructor at the University of Tennessee at Martin, told Newsweek.
