Honda's New Civic Hybrid Aims For 50 Miles Per Gallon

The Civic line brings back its hybrid variant just in time to catch the wave of sales.

The Honda Civic lineup will see the return of a hybrid powertrain in both sedan and hatchback body styles for the 2025 model year. The most powerful non-Type-R Civic ever created will represent an anticipated 40 percent of the nameplate sales, according to Honda, as it goes on sale in June.Honda expects the Environmental Protection Agency to rate the car at around 50 miles per gallon .The 2025 Civic is an update to the 11th-generation vehicle that premiered in 2022.

Honda tuned the Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid separately from the gas-only version with unique suspension tuning and a specifically developed tire.Honda says the 2025 Civic Hybrid have the lowest noise, vibration and harshness levels in the Civic lineup, which is important when the engine only runs some of the time.The cabin is mostly carryover for 2025. The Sport Hybrid comes with a gray interior, moonroof, heated front seats and dual zone climate controls standard.
