The Newcastle defender is set to complete a loan move to Vicarage Road watfordfc
The Hornets have been in talks to bring in the 25-year-old and Magpies boss Eddie Howe has said he expects the deal to be completed as soon as today.
Discussing possible departures, Howe said: “Jamal Lewis is probably the nearest to securing a loan move to Watford. That is closest in the pipeline and that will get done in the next 24 hours.” The Watford Observer understands the deal is also set to be concluded, with the defender poised to become the Hornets’ fifth summer signing following the capture of Rhys Healey, Tom Ince and Jake Livermore and the return on loan of Matheus Martins.And it will continue an already busy week of transfer activity as the start of the season looms ever closer, with Ismaila Sarr, Christian Kabasele and Ashley Fletcher all leaving in the past 48 hours.
Born in Luton, Lewis made his debut for Norwich City at the end of 2017 and went on to make 100 league and cup appearances for the Canaries before moving to Tyneside in September 2020. Lewis made 26 appearances in his first season, but has found his first-team opportunities increasingly limited since, making just two Premier League appearances last season.
