Hornets held to a draw at Preston but remain unbeaten watfordfc
With Emmanuel Dennis gone and both Ismaila Sarr and Joao Pedro absent with injuries – though apparently loitering by the exit – the stage was set for Rey Manaj and Vakoun Bayo. Sadly they both fluffed their lines.
The Hornets enjoyed long spells of possession but lacked pace in attack, often having to go back where they came from as the space wasn’t there. Preston were very direct early on and although the Hornets enjoyed good possession they looked unsettled when the home side his long balls, and from anything coming in from the flanks.
Bachmann made further saves to keep out long-range efforts from Ledson and Johnson, but as the half wore on the Hornets got to grips with the home side’s threat and enjoyed long spells of possession. What they didn’t have was a cutting edge, although Asprilla’s movement off the ball created plenty of space in and around the final third.
