Horror as man, 50, found dead at home days after attack with his killers still at large
A man who died in his house after suffering serious head injuries in a shocking attack has been described as being a ‘devoted family man’ who will be ‘dearly missed’. Nadeem Butt, 50, was found dead inside his home on Woodlands Street in Cheetham Hill on August 5, 2020.
At an inquest held at Manchester Coroner’s Court on Monday , area coroner Zak Golombeck heard a forensic post-mortem report suggested Mr Butt had sustained his injuries on July 30 - six days before his body was found.Dr Lumb said that Mr Butt had sustained serious head injuries and ‘may have survived for a period of time - several hours - after he sustained the injuries’.
Detective Chief Inspector Liam Boden, of GMP, said a ‘working hypothesis’ from the investigation was that Mr Butt had been assaulted at his home address by ‘unknown persons that caused or contributed to his death’. Coroner Mr Golombeck ruled that Mr Butt had been unlawfully killed and said he was ‘satisfied on the balance of probabilities’ that Mr Butt sustained his fatal head injuries ‘following a physical assault’.
