A local MP has said he will work closely with East Lancashire Health Trust (ELHT)
Blackburn’s MP has vowed to work closely with East Lancashire Health Trust bosses as they tackle 15-hour plus waiting lists for the A&E department at the town’s hospital. Independent Adnan Hussain has been in touch with ELHT chief executive Martin Hodgson and plans to visit the department to see for himself the scale of the problem which on Tuesday led to the issuing of a “red alert”.
“At the time of writing this statement the number of patients in the department is 138. The number of patients being presented at the hospital appear to be higher than the hospital dealt with even during the pandemic. “I would re-iterate the hospital’s call for people to make sure that they are going to the most appropriate place for their medical needs. I have been in contact with the office of Martin Hodgson, the hospital’s chief executive, offering my support and assistance and to let the hospital know that I am on hand to assist both locally and in Parliament.
