Kettering General Hospital (KGH) has launched a specialist ophthalmology suite costing £250,000 to provide eye procedures. The 'one-stop' suite, located at Nene Park Outpatients Centre, will benefit around 1,400 patients annually who require injections for vision-affecting conditions. The facility aims to reduce patient waiting times and eliminate the need for multiple hospital visits.
A hospital has launched a specialist "state-of-the-art" £250,000 ophthalmology suite for eye procedures.
Jayshree Menon, the clinical ophthalmology lead at KGH, said it would, over time, reduce patient waiting times by freeing up the hospital's operating theatres. He has had 19 eye injections in the last two years to treat diabetic macular oedema – a condition that affects the central sharp vision – and said attending "was quick and easy with free parking".
