Giancarlo Stanton is spending his usual time on the injured list for at least the next month.
Stanton pulled a hamstring as he coasted to score from second baseon Monday by discussing the Yankees, who, he said, are not winning enough games against great teams and have too many injury risks.
“Then, of course, they lose Stanton, who basically walks around the bases and he’s out a month. I mean, that’s ridiculous,” said Russo, a host on FS1. “I mean, constantly hurt time after time. Singlehandedly almost won a game against the Orioles, and then he runs around the bases and he pulls up lame. I mean, it’s ridiculous. ... He can’t be that brittle.”. Russo didn’t believe that’s likely ... and if Stanton did return in that timeframe, he wouldn’t be his earlier 2024 self.
“Now he’s going to be out a month, at least, and then it’s going to take him a month to get his swing back when he starts ready to play,” Russo said. “That’s the problem with the Yankees ... they get a lot of these guys who get hurt a lot.” A slimmer Stanton has bounced back in a big way this season with a .246/.302/.492 line and 18 home runs and 45 RBIs. His 120 OPS+ ranks third behind Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.
But entering this season, Stanton played in 391 of 708 games over the past five campaigns, so this injured list stint was bound to happen.Yankees announcer Michael Kay blasts Lakers coach JJ Redick for F-bombsThank you for relying on us to provide the journalism you can trust.
