📈 London hotels are cashing in on King Charles’s Coronation, hiking prices by hundreds of pounds over the May bank holiday weekend
, but many of those with rooms available are so confident these will be snapped up they are charging as much as 120 per cent above the going rate, analysis byThousands of Britons and foreign tourists will line the streets of the capital to catch a glimpse of the monarch travel along the Royal route from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey, where he will be crowned on Saturday 6 May.
Visitors seeking a place to stay in London can expect eye-watering rates elsewhere because of the Uber-style surge pricing introduced by hotels.and many events companies selling tickets for popular shows whereby rates are temporarily hiked in response to increased consumer demand.
But the hotel is charging more than double that amount – £1,273 – for the same room on the weekend Charles is crowned. That is a difference of £696, and an increase of 121 per cent. The historic Royal Horseguards hotel is hiking prices by £476, or 64 per cent, with a two-night stay at the end of April costing £742, compared to the £1,218 guests who check in for the bank holiday will pay.
