Many events have been cancelled and attractions closed
Gusty winds and rain is the order of the day for Nottingham according to weather forecasts on Saturday, December 7, as Storm Darragh hits the country. While worse in coastal areas, inland spots such as the East Midlands will still feel the force of the event, with many events cancelled and popular outdoor attractions closed.
While temperatures are not too cold - holding firm at exactly 7C for the entire day - it'll feel much chillier due to the conditions. Rain is expected all day, with winds of up to 50mph - faster than the originally suggested 40mph - likely to affect driving conditions and lead to staying indoors being the most sensible move.
A yellow weather warning is in place for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire for the weekend. The Met Office previously said: "Around 15-25 mm of rain may fall quite widely, more particularly across central, northern and western parts of England and Wales. Winds may quite widely gust to around 40-50mph inland."
Winds, having whipped up at around midday on Saturday, should calm down by around 3pm on Sunday. Rain and a similar temperature can be expected for most of Sunday, though. By Monday lunchtime, the chance of rain falls to 0% with winds having eased up too. Below is an hour-by-hour forecast for Saturday.11AM: 74% chance of rain, 18mph winds2PM: 77% chance of rain, 50mph winds5PM: 80% chance of rain, 47mph winds8PM: 55% chance of rain, 46mph winds11PM: 80% chance of rain, 48mph winds
