Former President Donald Trump said Haitian immigrants in Springfield are eating cats and dogs during Tuesday night's nationally-televised debate with Vice President Kamala Harris. The bizarre story started circulating in recent days and then was given new life when Trump running mate J.D. Vance tweeted about it.
Tuesday night, Trump said "In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people ... are eating the cats. They're eating the pets of the people that live there. This is what's happening in our country.""We wish to clarify that we have not been able to verify any credible reports or specific claims of pets being harmed, injured or abused by individuals within the immigrant community," he said.
