THE House of Representatives' Committee on Health approved on Wednesday, subject to amendments, a substitute bill that seeks to create the Health Emergency Auxiliary Reinforcement Team .
The measure replaced the Medical Reserve Corps bill, which is part of the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council's Common Legislative Agenda.Bernadette Velasco, director of the Department of Health's Health Emergency Management Bureau told a House Committee on Health meeting on Wednesday that the DoH deemed 'Heart' was the more appropriate term because it connotes volunteerism and bayanihan compared with Medical Reserve Corps that has a militaristic feel.
