Old Mackie's site plan also involves new commercial and community space
A housing campaign group is to engage in a consultation with the public over a plan for 500 homes in West Belfast at the old Mackie’s site.
Representatives for the campaign group stated: “In a Northern Ireland first, homeless families have launched a pre-application consultation with Belfast City Council and are urging the public to shape their vision for the future. “Local residents, homeless families and anyone interested in the innovative plans for the Mackie’s site will be welcome to participate in a discussion about the ambitious new vision for the Mackie’s site and explore the impressive plans while voicing their opinion on the proposals.”
Marissa McMahon of Take Back the City said: “This is the first time a campaign group of homeless families has made a pre-application of this kind to Belfast City Council. At the council’s Planning Committee that month, elected representatives voted in favour of section two of the Forth Meadow Community Greenway, including foot and cycle pathways, lighting columns, new entrances and street furniture.
