These manufactured, sleek style homes, located in Saint Charles Place along U.S. 231, provide families with a lower-cost option to live in the area.DOTHAN, Ala. - There’s new and affordable housing in Houston County, with each uniquely manufactured home accepting Section 8.Gantt Pierce, the owner of these properties, said he wants families to have lower-cost options in the area.

Saint Charles Place has 35 units near the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds, with other homes also available in Ashford and Cottonwood. ”A place for their children where they can go out and play and live in a great school district,” Pierce said.The nearly $6 million project creates homes full of amenities, like those you would find in homeowners associations.

“Cutting the grass, pest control, changing the air filters. All the amenities of HOA, people will get here. We’ll have playgrounds, we’ll have basketball courts and everything for a whole family,” Pierce explained.”This community especially, we have a ton of people who want affordable housing. So, there’s a big need for it and we want it to be or at least do our part in trying to assist with this crisis.

The Pierce’s have leased one-third of the units thus far and they are accepting applications for new tenants.
