Gillian Keegan wants us to thank her for doing a good job, when we should be furious
have been told to either shut entirely or not open to their full capacity due to fears they could imminently collapse. Worryingly, the number is expected to grow.
What’s more, seven hospitals have been found to be “structurally unsound” and there are concerns that thisYesterday, Education Secretarywas caught on camera suggesting she should be congratulated for her response, asking: “Does anyone ever say ‘you know what, you’ve done a f***ing good job’?” and accusing others of sitting “on their a***s” over the issue.
She refused to explain who has been, in her view, sat on their derriere doing nothing, stating her comment wasn’t aimed at anyone “in particular”. As expected, the Opposition quickly turned the footage into a devastating party advertisement on social media in which Keegan – and by extension the party she represents – comes across as arrogant and woefully out of touch.
Naturally, the pressure is intense, and Keegan is responding to that scrutiny in a way we all might if we were in her position. Indeed, the public are sometimes sympathetic when MPs are candid and relatable, but the problem for Keegan is that we also expect them to be competent and empathetic.
