One site offering a hot tub by its pitches has seen bookings double year on year
Glass in hand, steam rising from my private hot tub as I look out onto the lake, I could be staying in an exclusive hotel. But a quick glance at my bedroom, my own campervan parked feet away, makes the moment even sweeter as I rejoice at the fact my accommodation cost a fraction of the hundreds it would have if I were at a hotel, rather than a campsite.
“It does seem to be a trend that is gathering pace, as campers are looking for activities to enhance their camping trip and hosts are looking for ways to stand out. Hot tubs are a particular hit, as they provide some luxury fun whatever the weather.” “You can bring a tent, roof tent, your car with the mattress in the back,” said Thomas. “There’s no reason why people who haven’t got a huge amount of money shouldn’t receive the luxury rich people do.
“There’s a lot of people living on a income, but there’s no luxuries in their life. So, we just wanted to give those people the ability to have a bit of luxury.” Like Bargoed Farm, the pitch is open 12 months of the year and welcome to everyone, whether they’re in a safari tent, roof tent, or mighty motorhome.
Yet its low cost means they can charge a “sensible” price, currently from £65 Sunday to Thursday and from £70 at the weekend.
