Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Sugar creator Mark Protosevich explains why Colin Farrell's protagonist is different from Walter White and other TV antiheroes. Premiering on Apple TV Plus in early April, Sugar stars Farrell as John Sugar, an L.A. private investigator attempting to track down a missing Hollywood producer's granddaughter.
“I wanted a character who carried themselves in a classic style, that this is a person who doesn’t necessarily seem from this time. I didn’t want him to be an antihero. I didn’t want him to be the hero and the villain, as I was seeing a lot of on TV. I liked the idea of creating someone who had integrity, who tried to do the right thing, who cared about people.”
