So when his practice had the opportunity to ditch EMIS and become the first in the country to trial a new system developed by Medicus he said they “jumped at” at the chance. “We have been awaiting the update for EMIS, called EMISX, for many years now which when it is fully rolled out will hopefully improve things”, he said. “EMIS is really a very intuitive system to use and I wouldn’t have many complaints if it were more stable and if the company were more responsive to issues.

Dr Selvaseelan Selvarajah says his practice dealt with issues on EMIS the same week as the CrowdStirke one “Because of the duopoly of the two systems they are often slow to respond to the needs of users. That’s the case across the NHS.”She said: “What’s important is that GPs can be confident that whichever system they use will allow them to deliver a safe and reliable experience for their patients, and keep their patients’ data secure.
