One MP said: “With Boris, I think it still hurts him the way he was removed, he is still engaged in politics, he is still keen. He still sees people. If Boris had the opportunity to come back, I think he would go for it. I think he has unfinished business to do.” A Tory source said: “Cameron is really enjoying being back at the centre of politics. His stock price is rising again.”, but the former prime minister made clear she wanted to continue to campaign on policies she cares about, including modern slavery and human trafficking.

However May has been a long-term Tory loyalist, and is not seen as someone who would rock the boat for Sunak in a campaign.
