– A number of tariffs on finished vehicles to support the automotive sector, which will not apply to car parts imported from the EU to prevent disruption to supply chains. Rates include beef , poultry meat , sheep meat , pig meat , butter , Cheddar-like cheese , protected fish and seafood products and milled and semi-milled products Among the 13% of imports by value which will be subject to tariffs will be beef, lamb, pork and poultry and some dairy products, in order to protect UK farmers and producers from cheap imports

Proposed tariff rates on a range of food products were announced as a proportion of the so-called ‘most favoured nation’ currently imposed by the EU on imports from countries which do not have a free trade agreement. Trade Policy Minister George Hollingbery said: ‘Our priority is securing a deal with the EU as this will avoid disruption to our global trading relationships. However we must prepare for all eventualities.
