As the film and television production company he co-founded hits new heights, Emile Sherman has spoken about the lessons learnt from his father, Brian Sherman.
Oscar-winning producer Emile Sherman has spoken for the first time of the formative role his late father, EquitiLink co-founder Brian Sherman, played in his own increasingly illustrious career.last November, two months after his father died following a long battle with Parkinson’s, Sherman was still coming to terms with the loss. “During his death I was able to talk to him, to cry next to him, and I feel like everything was said that needed to be said,” he says.
See-Saw Films, the film and television production company Sherman co-founded in 2008 with Englishman Iain Canning, has hit new heights of late. In March last year, Jane Campion’sNetflix commissioned two further seasons of the Emmy-winning serieswithin weeks of its 2022 debut, while Apple has commissioned third and fourth seasons of another breakout hit,, starring Laura Dern and Hugh Jackman, will be released.

, much as his son would partner decades later with Canning, who co-leads See-Saw’s operations out of the UK.“My dad was an unbelievably patient person ... I’ve tried to emulate something of his gentleness and kindness. And financial acumen; my dad had an ability to just see through complexity and get to the core,” he says.
