Treasurer Jim Chalmers said his third federal budget prioritises cost-of-living help, strengthening Medicare and the care economy and building more homes for Australians.Pensioners, low income earners, familes and students are just some of the people who will be better off under the new reforms.The federal government is giving every Australian household $300 in energy bill relief . It will come in the form of $75 discounts for each quarterly bill in the next financial year.
$350.3 million to expand access to university enabling and preparation programs through a new fee-free Uni Ready Courses program from January 1, 2025. There’s an additional $3.4 billion for new or amended drugs on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, which includes treatments for chronic heart failure, chronic kidney disease and breast cancer.
All retirees will also benefit from the $300 energy bill relief, and eligible pensioners could also benefit from the increase in rent assistance.$88.8 million over three years from 2024-25 for 20,000 additional fee-free TAFE and VET places to train more building and construction workers.
