“We had armed police running down, screaming ‘stay in your house’… they shut us off and basically put us into lockdown.” Laurence Brass: said: “At about eight o’clock last night, I was watching the football on television, and suddenly a helicopter landed on the lawn outside my flat, which is at the top of this road, and then my phone started going, and I was told that there was a major incident here in Bushey and we should all keep away because there was somebody apparently on the run.At 8.31am, Hertfordshire Constabulary announced it was investigating a triple murder.
Neighbours reported the house being swarmed by officers with riot shields and a cordon put in place barring entry to the road.One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: “They kept going in and out of the property carrying guns, the whole road was taped off. It later emerged that Clifford was in The Queen’s Dragoon Guards for a “short stint” and has been out of the Army for about two years, according to military sources.The search zeroed in on Lavender Hill Cemetery near Hilly Fields Park in Enfield, 120 yards from the Clifford family home.
