Russia claimed the US was 'deliberately misleading the international community'
Permanent Representative of Algeria to the UN Amar Bendjama, left, and China’s UN ambassador, Zhang Jun, vote against the US ceasefire resolution during the Security Council meeting on Friday
Eleven countries – US, France, UK, Ecuador, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, South Korea, Sierra Leone, Slovenia and Switzerland – voted in favour of the resolution, with one abstention from Guyana. “The US is moving to a more critical stance with Israel but it will find itself in same place, until Netanyahu is gone, nothing will change. He has no vision for future beyond keeping himself in power, and he believes he can do this by maintaining a perpetual state of war.”Negotiations have been strained as Hamas calls for a permanent ceasefire while Israel insists on the militant group’s “total eradication”.
