There are 9,500 cases of skin cancer diagnosed daily in the United States, making it the most common cancer in the country, the American Academy of Dermatology says.

Squamous cell carcinoma is also curable if caught early. Only about 2 percent of cases metastasize, but that’s when it becomes dangerous. Then the five-year survival rate is 40 percent.
