All of these things are covered in the Dark Elf trilogy, which essentially acts as a prequel to the Icewind Dale trilogy. Salvatore offers glimpses into Drizzt's past over the course of the Icewind Dale trilogy, but saves the full story for the Dark Elf trilogy.
