The best athletes in college will compete at the 2024 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend in Boston at the TRACK at New Balance.
To qualify for the meet, athletes in the individual events had to be ranked among the top 16 entrants in their respective events. The University of Arkansas men’s and women’s teams are the defending champions, and both are favored to repeat this weekend. On the men’s side, the Razorbacks will face stiff competition from Texas Tech and distance-heavy Northern Arizona, while the women’s squad will have to hold off Texas and Florida if they want another ring.
But Parker Wolfe of North Carolina and University of New Mexico freshman Habtom Samuel could threaten Young and Robinson for the throne. Women’s 800 meters Michaela Rose ran the second fastest college time ever indoors earlier this season; the only athlete in collegiate history who has run faster than her season-opening 1:59.49 is Olympic and world champion Athing Mu. Rose is the only athlete entered with a sub-2 minute mark to her name, making her the obvious favorite.
