Arbiters of obscuity, the Parsons alumnis' made their debut back in 2014, with an espy entrance, fixated by the articulation of beauty and glamour. Through a speculative moniker that shares its name with the fabled nightclub from Manhattan during the '80s, AREA situated itself, like the club, between a fusion of art and performance, inspired by intersectionality. Maintaining a firm hold of the cornerstone for AW20, the duo continued their multifaceted saga of wit, glam and decadence.
Between the "highly conceptual and desirably feminine," the bedrock of their mission, the pair rejoiced in their penchat for texture, premiering offbeat trench coats and slinky suits, roused from the print of wooden floorboards and contrasted with crinkled metallic boots, procuring an otherworldly entourage. Fringing took centre stage, from crystal tassled skirts to the edge of the heel, while threads of the glittering delicately formed cable-knit plaits down the body.
