When an awkward question about Covid comes up, someone will say: “Well, tell that to the inquiry.” The point: that soon, an investigation will be launched into this debacle and an almighty blame game will begin. I know one Cabinet member who is keeping meticulous, exculpatory notes of his actions with a dateline starting in January. Officials are already writing memos designed to be “discovered” when the inquisition starts.
