HSBC has increased the minimum income requirement for its Premier Account, now demanding at least £100,000 annually from customers. This change affects both new and existing account holders, who previously could qualify with £75,000 income or £50,000 in savings/investments.

HSBC has implemented a substantial change to its current account offering, the HSBC Premier Account , requiring customers to meet a higher income threshold. Previously, customers could qualify for the Premier Account with an annual income of £75,000 or more, or savings and investments totaling £50,000 with HSBC . However, the bank recently notified customers via email about revised eligibility criteria, as reported by The Express.

Effective April 9, 2025, customers must now demonstrate an individual annual income of at least £100,000 or possess investments of £100,000 to be eligible for the Premier Account. This change, which was initially implemented for new customers last September, will now apply to all existing Premier Account holders. The HSBC Premier Account offers a range of benefits, including inclusive travel insurance, overseas banking services, investment tools, and a £500 overdraft facility. HSBC clarified on its website that for joint accounts, at least one account holder must meet the £100,000 income requirement. Additionally, the bank specified that qualifying savings or investments must be held with HSBC in the UK within six months of account opening for new customers or before account opening for existing customers.
