Huey Morgan, former frontman of Fun Lovin' Criminals, publicly criticized his ex-bandmates, accusing them of being a 'corny tribute act' and calling their upcoming tour a 'fraud.'
Former Fun Lovin' Criminals frontman Huey Morgan put on a loved-up display with his wife Rebecca on the A Complete Unknown red carpet. The American musician, 56, was among the stars in attendance at the London premiere of the Bob Dylan biopic on Tuesday. He stepped out for the premiere at BFI Southbank in London alongside his wife Rebecca - and the smitten pair shared a kiss on the red carpet.
Huey was laughing as he walked along the carpet hand-in-hand with his wife, as he sported a longline black coat. He completed the look with a white t-shirt tucked into black trousers and a pair of trainers. Meanwhile Rebecca looked chic in a black mini dress paired with a blazer draped over her shoulders and stilettos. Huey found fame in the mid-nineties as a member of the rap rock group which he formed with Brian Leiser and Steve Borgovini. The band, best known for their 1996 hit Scooby Snacks, released six albums between 1996 and 2010. Huey decided to leave the group in 2021, but did not address the reasons behind his departure at the time. The singer finally addressed his departure in October, saying his ex-bandmates tried to 'pull a fast one' on him. Sharing a poster announcing Fun Lovin' Criminals will be going to Australia next year, Huey wrote: 'I see why they've blocked me. are trying to pull a fast one down under and don't want y'all to know I'm not in the band anymore. 'That's sad and creepy y'all. Just a tribute act now...' Fun Lovin' Criminals released a statement in November 2021 confirming Huey's departure, writing: 'Huey has officially confirmed his departure from the band. We wish him all the best with his endeavours. 'We will continue as Fun Lovin’ Criminals because of the love and dedication we have for our music and our fans. More details to follow.' In an Instagram Live in March 2022, Brian Leisner and Frank Benbini confirmed their relationship with Huey had become 'strained'. The pair said Huey decided he didn't want to tour with the band, preferring to focus on presenting and DJing. Brian also claimed Huey did not want to play much of the band's back catalogue during shows and they had been playing the same set for years. 'We got bored and some fans got bored too. It was one of the reasons cracks began to appear in our relationship,' he said. Huey recently branded his former band a 'corny tribute act' following his departure and said their 25th anniversary is 'a fraud.' Issuing an update to X/Twitter on Thursday amid the ongoing drama, the ex frontman slammed his former bandmates once more, after they blocked him on social media. He wrote: 'My friends, I am not in @funlovincrims anymore. They are just a corny tribute act now.' Huey continued: 'The '100% Colombian anniversary album tour' is a fraud. It's only the original keyboard player pretending to be me, singing my lyrics like a clown and 2 guys from Leicester who weren't within 3000 miles of the studio. 'They threatened me with some legal bull**** if I spoke up, but I spent 30 years making this band. 'And I'll be damned if these cowards are gonna keep me quiet. Please repost because they've blocked me like chumps.
