Several bonfires were seen in Paisley this evening as locals came together to pull off a self-organised event.
Fire crews were called to a huge bonfire built by locals in Paisley that could be seen from miles away on Bonfire Night. The massive inferno was set alight in the Shortroods area of the town and is believed to have burned until around 10pm on Saturday night.
A tape appears to have been erected to separate the fire from families who rocked up to catch a glimpse of the spectacle. It is understood fireworks were also set off at the gathering. Firefighters found it to be controlled, and said all was in order and that no injuries had been sustained, so no action was taken to extinguish it.
In the footage, members of the community can be seen dragging wooden pellets and piling bits of furniture including desks, chairs and tables on top of each other hours before the fire.
