Axel Rudakubana will find out how many years he will face behind bars
A huge police convoy arrived in Liverpool to escort Axel Rudakubana to court. The 18-year-old will be sentenced today, Thursday, January 23, at Liverpool Crown Court. It comes after he admitted the murders of three girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport. Rudakubana, of Banks in West Lancashire, was due to go on trial this week after he was charged in connection with the Southport stabbings.
Rudakubana, who was aged 17 at the time of the stabbings but turned 18 in August 2024, had previously refused to speak during any of his previous court appearances . Appearing in court on Monday, the defendant, who had an intermediary with him in the dock, wore a grey tracksuit and a surgical mask. He did not stand when asked to by the court clerk and judge after entering court and did not reply when he was asked to confirm his name.
