Hundreds of holidaymakers have been caught up in the airport chaos as flights have been grounded across the UK.
Scots holidaymakers are facing long queues at airports across the country today amid a major UK airspace "network wide failure".
Images taken at Edinburgh Airport have revealed the extent of the holdups as hundreds of passengers can be seen standing in congested walkways outside waiting to get into the check-in hall. Crammed queues have also been seen inside the airport, piling into a Starbucks and waiting at baggage areas. The national air traffic controllers said that the issue - which has since been “identified and remedied” - affected their ability to automatically process flight plans and they have applied traffic flow restrictions.
