Latest Nottingham Forest news as NottinghamshireLive looks at some of the Reds' worst ever bosses
Steve Cooper recently marked two years in charge at Nottingham Forest - a milestone he acknowledged in typical style by stressing his focus is on looking forward rather than reflecting on the past.
Previously, we have looked at Forest's best and worst signings of the last 10 years. Here, we look at their worst ever managers. That is when it all started to go wrong as Forest fell apart the following season. Poor signings arrived when fans were consistently promised quality was coming. Working for Fawaz Al Hasawi cannot have been easy, but Forest looked under-cooked for games, with Eric Lichaj admitting he once asked not to start an early season game as he did not feel pre-season had been demanding enough and as such he was not match fit.
He actually had a better win ratio than a beloved figure in his successor Paul Hart, and if you speak to players at the time, many appreciated his relatively innovative coaching and forward thinking approach to a player's lifestyle and diet. However, he failed miserably with the money given to him and his reputation will always be one of failure. Remarkably, he was the last Forest manager to leave for another job.
Hughton did that. It was not pretty but Forest stayed up. At the start of the following season there was some optimism for better, but the former Brighton boss then oversaw the worst start to a season in 108 years. Forest were sinking rapidly. They took one point from their opening seven games before he was fired.
